Year 7 Crunch Numbers with Jonathan the Spar Manager!
Jonathan Mitchell had an engaging conversation with Year 7 pupils today, shedding light on how maths plays a crucial role in his daily responsibilities as a Spar Manager. Jonathan emphasised that without the use of maths, the seamless operation of Spar stores would be compromised. He also stressed the significance of accurately calculating and ordering the necessary quantity of products to prevent stockouts, ensuring that customers consistently find the items they want to purchase in-store.
As part of the educational experience, the pupils were provided with a variety of problem-solving activities. These exercises allowed them to step into the shoes of a Spar manager, managing aspects like employee wages. Spar's commitment to charity work was also discussed, notably mentioning their support for the Cancer Fund for Children, underscoring the store's dedication to making a positive impact on the community.
Emma, Jonathan's daughter, was particularly enthusiastic about her dad’s presence in her classroom today. She loved listening to him educate her peers about how maths is an essential tool for solving real-world problems in his role as a Spar Manager. Thank you Jonathan, the pupils had lots of fun!
