Year 4 Seeing Sound
Year 4 have been learning all about Sound throughout our World Around Us this term. We carried out an experiment to investigate how sound is produced by vibrations. Firstly, the children used a tuning fork to investigate how sound vibrations can move a stationary object. Then, they planned and conducted an experiment to work out if sound waves were able to move other objects with their vibrations. Prior to the experiment, the children predicted which instrument they thought would cause the rice to move most. We then concluded that the sound produced from beating a drum caused the rice to move/ vibrate the most as it produced the loudest sound. The children had great fun conducting their experiment.
