Year 4 Bird Beak Investigation
4th Oct 2021
This month, the children in Year 4 have been learning all about a variety of birds throughout our topic of “Up, Up and Away.” We explored similarities and differences between different bird species and how their adaptations help them to survive in their environment. We learned that each bird’s beak is a unique shape and size to aid their survival.
As a class, we planned an investigation to find out why each beak is a particular shape and how this helps the bird catch its prey. We used a selection of materials and resources to represent each different beak and what they feed on.
The children thoroughly enjoyed this investigation.
