Maths Week
We had a very busy Maths Week. This year our theme was ‘Money and Financial Capability’. There were lots of activities happening in the classrooms such as sorting coins, painting money trees, totalling amounts of money, searching through the Smith’s catalogue, using budgets and many more.
We also had visits from Sam and Ryan, who work for Danske Bank and Julie from Ballymena Causeway Credit Union. They taught the children all about how the Bank and Credit Union work and how they can help them to save their money.
Some of the Primary 4 pupils went to visit Robinson’s Supermarket. They searched for items, compared their prices and became shop keepers for the day. Everyone had lots of fun and Year 4 left with more knowledge and some treats.
Primary 2, along with their Primary 5 buddies, were helping Miss O’Kane to search for her lost coins that were all over the playground.
Primary 4- Primary 7 took part in Times Table Rockstars’ ‘Ireland Rocks’ competition, with Miss McKinley’s class coming out as victors at the end of the week.
The boys and girls in Primary 4- Primary 7 were also given a ‘loan’ from the school to create a mini business. On Friday, each class set up their stalls to sell to all of their eager customers. It was a great success with each stall selling out. A brilliant end to a fun filled week.
