Aaron Niblock, a doctor, gave an informative yet practical talk to Year 3 today. He shared insights into what it’s like to be a doctor and how he incorporates maths into his daily medical practice.
Aaron elaborated on how, as a doctor, he faces the task of calculating the precise dosages of medications for patients. The pupils learnt that these calculations are vital to ensure that each patient receives the correct amount of medication for their needs.
The pupils were also provided with a printed image of blood cells with specific cells marked for counting. They were then handed blank templates of blood cell images and instructed to use the microscope to tally and mark the blood cells themselves. They thoroughly enjoyed examining an actual blood sample through the microscope, which made them feel like genuine medical professionals.
Jack and Ezra loved listening to their dad talk about his profession and how he uses maths in his daily work. Year 3 want to thank Aaron for his valuable insights, they had lots of fun!
