Year 7 have been studying The Famine as part of their WAU topic and are also enjoying reading Marita Conlon McKenna’s Under the Hawthorn Tree as their class novel.
In Literacy the pupils were exploring on how to show empathy with the characters in the novel by writing diary extracts.
During their Art activities the pupils recreated Northern Ireland’s artist J.P. Rooney’s cottage scenes using oil pastels. The pupils’ drawings complemented their writing in an eye-catching display.
