Pupils in Year 2/3 had the exciting opportunity to visit Ballymena’s Credit Union bank and embark on a captivating tour. During this eye-opening experience, they had the chance to explore the bank's facilities and gain insight into the day-to-day operations, expertly guided by Julie. Some lucky pupils even had the chance to step into the shoes of a banker for a while.
Julie, our knowledgeable guide, enlightened the pupils on how the Credit Union plays a crucial role in helping people save and borrow money. She emphasised that when individuals require financial assistance, such as purchasing a car or a house, the Credit Union is there to provide them with loans. The pupils also learned about the significance of saving their allowances and how maths is employed to make informed financial decisions.
The pupils were engaged and enthusiastic during a fun math quiz, and they were particularly fascinated by the secure safe where money is stored. Furthermore, they gained insights into various currencies and discovered that, when planning holidays, they can exchange their money for other currencies.
