“Helping hands are better than praying lips.”
This quote from Mother Teresa emphasises the importance of taking action and extending a helping hand to those in need. While prayers have their place, she believed that tangible acts of kindness and support are powerful ways to make a difference in the world.
St Colmcille’s pupils and their families extended helping hands and have been so generous over this last month.
The Rotary Club were again overwhelmed with the support they received from St Colmcille’s. The Rotary Club send their thanks to staff, pupils and parents, and say the donations will make a real difference to the lives of many people in Ballymena this Christmas.
St Colmcille’s pupils, families and staff also raised £1080 for the Children’s Hospice a charity that works tirelessly for families that need support during very difficult times. The contributions were made during the Christmas Fair, contributions given at the Foundation and Key stage 1 Christmas shows and the ‘Jingle All The Way’ raffles in each class. Elaine from the Children’s Hospice thanks everyone for their generosity.
Donations during the Foundation and Key stage 1 Christmas performances also raised £1025 for the St Vincent De Paul another charity that is always helping and supporting our local families. Kieran from the St Vincent De Paul says a big thank you to all the pupils, families and staff.
Very well done to our Pupil Council who helped with ‘Donation Day’, lifting bags and sorting the donations for the Rotary Club. They also helped Alastair and his son Matthew load the van with all the bags. The Pupils Council members were on hand to present Elaine and Kieran with the cheques after having counted and bagged the money, they are great ambassadors for St Colmcilles.
